Mayfair Market
Remember the Mayfair Market across from Montecito. If the Food Mart didn't have what we needed, it was off to Mayfair. Later, it became Alfa Beta I think. Now it's Whole Foods. |

The Variety Fair
Anyone remember the Variety Fair at Montecito? I loved to go in there with my mom when she needed something. I could always find a pretty cool toy for easily under a buck. We also used to get all our party favors there at birthday time. |

The Friendly Foam Shop...
I never went in, but I always loved the name as a kid. Anybody remember what the sign looked like? Was it a piece of foam smiling, or something? |

Binning...
This was the word my high school girlfriends and I used to describe one of our favorite activities: Going to Fry's and sneaking out of their bins gummy worms, malt balls, chocolate covered almonds, yogurt covered pretzels, and/or whatever else we could manage to stomach at one time. |

Local Yogurt
A couple of my high school girlfriends worked at this fro yo joint in Larkspur Landing- around 1989-1990. I wasn't officially 'employed,' but would often stand behind the counter to dish out yogurt to the customers or- better yet- to myself! I remember one afternoon we had just finished auditio... |

Air Raid Drills
SO SCAREY! I remember being in grammar school at Lagunitas and having air raid drills. When the alarm sounded we had to crawl under our desks. We had to hunker down in the fetal postion with a forearm on the floor to rest our forehead and the other arm behind our neck. We had to stay there, waiting for "... |
