You think 35mm Kodachrome is something, check out what 4X5 (that's 4 inches by 5 inches, or roughly 18 times the image area of a 35mm slide) can look like, from 65 years ago here. Photos were shot for various government agencies for use in posters and graphics, hence the use of large-format cameras, most likely Speed-Graphics, then the most common news photo cameras.

Not much of local interest on the site, but the hi-rez imagery (both color & black-and-white) makes for time-machine material par excellence. Also a riot to read the comments from people who know nothing about the past but are positive they do ("Gotta be Photoshopped - they didn't have color film back then!" or my favorite "Has to be a fake! The dude has purple socks!")
