Hickory Pit lemon merengue pies! About a foot tall. And, at the bottom of the pan, a little piggie. We always had to save the pans, I think you would get a disount on your next pie if you returned them.
wasn't the import store called "Import International? I loved that shopping center in the "old days". Thanks for the trip down memory lane. The best cards could be found at the hallmark store in Strawberry, my friends and i would take the bus after school from Redwood to the center and park ourselvs in the card section and just laugh our heads off.
And don't forget the Bank Of Marin. before it became West America. The founder started all over again and has several Bank of Marin's all over the county.
Does anyone remember the original shops at the Strawberry Village in Mill Valley? Since my family owned the Hi-Ho Motel across the freeway, that was the most convenient place for all our shopping needs. And they did have everything you needed. I can't remember the name of the shop that was kind of like a Cost Plus. They had posters, incense, jewelry and strawberry oil that all the teenage girls had to have. Polynesian House - My mom loved shopping there for clothes and furniture. It was like being on vacation every time you walked in the store with the Hawaiian music playing, waterfalls going and the sales ladies all wearing Polynesian dresses. Patton's Children's Clothing - They always had the latest fashions for children and as a child I remember feeling well dressed when mom bought me a special outfit there. Before Mrs. Patton closed the shop in the early 80's, I was actually able to take my baby daughter shopping there. Little Chicks & Little Daisy - When I became a teenager, I graduated from Patton's to Little Chicks and Little Daisy for my special occasion clothes. I got my senior prom dress at Little Daisy. Monkey Business - They had the most unique gift items, purses and accessories. Walthers Bakery - They had the best danish pastries. I was really sorry to see them close just before the center started renovation a couple years ago. Bud's Ice Cream - Mocha Chip ice cream on a sugar cone. Ideal Stationers - Still there all these years later. Now in the strip mall by In/Out Burger. Golden Strawberry Salon Ancient Mariner Yet Wah So many memories.
