Our LCM 8th grade class had a pre-graduation party/picnic/swim day there in 1960. I fell asleep next to the pool and got the sunburn from hell. Ever since that day I've been susceptible to sunstroke. Cause and efect? Who knows.
My mom used to go out there in the late '40's, early '50's. My grandparents owned a half share of Bob's tavern in Larkspur, now the Silver Peso, and they worked very late, so my mom used to "borrow" their car (even before she had a license) and go out there with her friends. That and the Rose Bowl in larkspur were the places to go then.
I went swimming there when I was a kid. It was sold and then the whole thing closed. It never was reopened to the public and the swimming pool is in need of repair as it's never been used since. The out door dance hall is gone, and now there are several small homes that need work. The town of fairfax has been trying to buy the property for years but can't afford it. It's to bad that it can't be restored back to what it used to be for the public to use again.
