Here's a photo of the 1948 Senorita Marin I posted in the Larkspur Parades thread, going past Probert's (now Lark Creek Shops):

And yes, seeing all those names in the program brought back a flood of memories for me, too. I was also surprised to see the name of a non-Larkspurian who emceed one of the events: Paul Speegle. Anybody remember him? Hint: there's a connection of sorts with an individual whose name appears on MarinNostalgia's home page.

Fantastic! I've heard about the 49'er Fiesta, and I even have my grandmother's old costume dress hanging in my closet, but I've never seen a program like this. I recognize some of the names, and of course, some of the old businesses.
My family didn't take any photos of anything they did in Larkspur, sad to say. I only know the stories.

Someone actually scanned a few pages of this program (I think it's this one) and I'm going to be posting it on the site soon!

Going through the pages of the 1949 49er Fiesta program brought back all kinds of memories of Larkspur businesses and people. I was only 2 at the time, but by the time I was starting to be aware of things in the 50s, lots of these places and folks were still around, and I saw many of them on a day-to-day basis. The program also has ads from vintage Marin business in other towns nearby.

It's from the Anne T. Kent California Room at the Civic Center Branch of the Marin Co. Free Library. Check out that link for scads of other great Marin County photos from the past.
