I remember going there as a kid in the late 1950s with my folks. I think it was the first drive in I ever went to, and I thought it was a big thrill to get hamburgers and shakes and root beer floats delivered right to your car. I remember some of the Tam High kids were milling around, the boys were wearing their lettermen jackets and mostly had crewcuts or flat top haircuts, , while the girls wore those long dresses and sweaters that were so typical of that time. I recall the sounds of music blaring from their cars, songs like "Swinging School" by Bobby Rydell (you might remember he co starred with Anne-Margaret in "Bye-Bye Birdie," ) and "Another Sleepless Night" by Bobby Clanton, and some Chuck Berry tunes as well. That place and the whole scene around it sort of typified what I thought Marin High School culture was all about in those years. It sure was a lot more innocent than the wild and sometimes dangerous era of the late 1960s that I grew up with at Redwood!
I remember it well.they had great cheeseburgers for I think 19cents. My friends and I would hang out there on friday nights. We would meet at C's, grab a burger or taco and decide what to do for the night. Most of the time we would go to San Rafael and cruise 4th st.
