I was on that fire with Kentfield Fire Dept. The first photo I can see the
OES 165 on the ridge. Asst. Chief Mariani and myself CJ Curtin and one
other volunteer tossed road flare down that canyon to backfire. As you can see when the fire hit the top of the ridge it stopped with the help from CDF air tankers. Without them the fire had potential running north to Terra Linda.
Ooh - I remember watching that out the window at the Tompkins' house on Skyline Rd. and listening to Tommy's scanner. That's the first big fire I ever saw!
Everyone who lives around the Sun Valley area / Mt. Tam Cemetary knows it always has been subject to fire. Found these photos that my parents took from their house on June 14, 1976:
